Lowell Community Technology Consortium

Present: Kathy Horn (Girls, Inc.), Carol Langevin (MRC),
Dan MacNeil (LTC), Maryellen McEleney (New Beginnings), Tim O'Connor
(St. Julie Asian Center), Micky Sin (RRC), Sothea Sui (RRC), Felicia
Sullivan (LTC), Ed West (MRC /RRC)

I. Introductions /
New People
- Carol Langevin, directs the area that oversees the Recruitment
Resources CTC project. She is interested in the resources that
the Consortium has to offer and is a former Mill Girl.
- Sothea Sui is a new technology intern at the Flanagan CTC and
will be working with Micky and Ed to run programs at that center.
II. Announcements /
Updates
- The community service information survey has gone out. Follow-up
calls will be made in the next few weeks. Of upi jave questions
or concerns, contact Maryellen at New Beginnings.
- RRC has opened its second CTC at North Canal housing complex
in the Mercier Center on Market Street. They will begin with public
access hours 10am-12pm with a volunteer doing community service.
Hope to have future workforce development workshops there.
- The girls at Girls, Inc. are currently involved in a web design
workshop and are in the processing of getting it up and online.
- New Beginnings is beginning to feel the crunch of increased
demand for job skills and the need for classes at other locations
may be necessary.
- Overall there is a need for people to run classes at various
locations and get information about classes and other information
up on the website.
- A number of folks are going to the CTCNet Conference in San
Diego in mid June. For those not attending check out the conference

and she will put together a resource list to grab while there.
III. Discussion: June Retreat Preparation
- A broad discussion of what folks wanted to get out the retreat.
Expectations, activities ect.
- Better ways to share information and ideas (i.e. education,
tracking / reporting, evaluation)
- Identifying priorities, identity and a sense of life after DoE
funding
- need to talk about sustainability (staffing, funding, leadership)
- Need to identify challenges, training resources
- Organizational issues such as workng groups, leadership, development,
long-term visioning
- Retreat should not be too packed or over scheduled. There should
be enough room to explore ideas and converse with others.
- Should be a good mix of group and individual time
- Might be a good idea to involve / invite someone who has some
experience with collaboration building such as Kate Snow
- Folks want to walk away with a group identity, good vibes, some
unity of vision and ideas, concrete action, and a general vision
plan
IV. Adjourn
Next Meeting
- There will be not regular Consortium meeting in June. However,
there is a day-long retreat on June 1st (8:30am to
4:30pm) at Camp Maude Eaton in North Andover. Contact Felicia
for travel directions (felicia@ltc.org)
- Next regular Consortium Meeting will be July 18th
