Description
The Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers (MAPS) is a private, non-profit, community-based organization that has provided a wide range of health and human services to Portuguese speakers and other residents of eastern Massachusetts for more than a quarter of a century. The agency offers a variety of programs that break down language and cultural barriers to health and social services, educational and economic opportunity. One of our latest additions is a computer lab designed to facilitate community member’s understanding of the Information Age. It will increase community awareness of the impact of technology on society.  All of this will be accomplished  through hands-on experiences.

Training

MAPS offers classes in basic computer skills in Portuguese to the Portuguese-speaking community in Lowell.

Fees

A small fee of $30.00 entitles students to all computer classes and equipment use. Each student is entitled to a computer account on our network.

Future Plans

MAPS would like to further incorporate technology into ESL training.
